José Creuheras awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi
The president of Grupo Planeta and Atresmedia, José Creuheras, has been honored with the 2025 Creu de Sant Jordi in a ceremony held last Thursday, May 15th, at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC).
The event was presided over by the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, and the Minister of Culture, Sònia Hernández, who officially recognized the businessman’s contributions to the promotion of culture and his social commitment.
José Creuheras began his career at Grupo Planeta in 1984, rising through the ranks to become president in 2015. Under his leadership, Grupo Planeta has become the largest Spanish-language publishing group and the undisputed leader in the Spanish-speaking market, with a presence in more than 20 countries.
Regarding the award, Creuheras stated, “It means a great deal of excitement and a huge honor, because it is a recognition for all the people — the more than 15,000 people working in the group in communication, in Atresmedia, in publishing, and in education, like Planeta Formación y Universidades. It’s a recognition for those of us working to make society a little bit better.”
