The Planeta Prize also celebrates the Group’s 75th anniversary
The 73rd edition of the Planeta Prize was held on Tuesday, 15 October: 1,070 works were submitted, a highly respectable number after last year’s record of 1,129 manuscripts.
The event took placeat the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC), in Barcelona, and commemorated the anniversary of the group’s founder, José Manuel Lara Hernández.
This year, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia attended the literary dinner, along with prominent figures from the political, cultural, and literary spheres.
The jury included writer Luz Gabás, winner in 2022, and academic Eva Giner.
The Planeta Prize is known for promoting and popularising Spanish authors and their works, and it is the world’s most lucrative literary award:
€1,000,000 for the winning work and €200,000 for the runner-up.
